Pansy

Flint and Steel Pansy

Pansy stretched out and soaking up warm rays during an afternoon nap.

Pansy is a New York-born sow.  She is a very large, stout hog with broad, wide shoulders.  Her snout is medium in length and curved. Her coat is moderate in length which sheds about 45% during summer months.  Pansy prefers to graze and maintains her weight on 100% pasture in late spring, summer, and early fall.  She likes all fruits and vegetables and soaked alfalfa.

Pansy has moderate to large litters ranging from 9 to 14 piglets.

She loves attention and is friendly and approachable.  Pansy is quiet, laid back,  and not very vocal.  Her only vocalizations occur when we greet her at the start of the day.

Pansy was bred to Broderick and farrowed March 5 with a litter of 14.  If you are interested on one of her offspring, please click here.

 Peony

Old Crowe Peony

Old Crowe Peony taking ‘the kids’ out for a snack.  She loves to graze and is teaching her piglets well.

Peony is a Virginia-born sow and has very strong Setty lines.  She is large boned with broad strong shoulders.   Her coat is straight and long and minimal shedding during the summer.  She maintains her weight extremely well on 100% pasture, and, like Pansy, eats all fruits and vegetables.

Peony exhibits very positive maternal instincts.  She searches the hay for her piglets prior to laying down, is slow and deliberate when laying down so as to not harm her piglets, and has zero crush issues. She is very gentle and affectionate (even with piglets on the ground).  She vocalizes to greet us when we approach her.

Pansy has moderate to large litters ranging from 6 to 11 piglets.

Peony was bred to Broderick and farrowed March 10 with a litter of 11.  If you are interested on one of her offspring, please click here.
