Never canned before or just need a refresher? Find out how easy canning food can be in this canning 101 workshop! This class makes an in-season product. All the ingredients, necessary equipment and jars are provided by the farm. We use safe canning recipes during a hands-on lesson. Each participant leaves with knowledge of the canning process and a jar of product. Learn how to can food in our kitchen so you can repeat the process at home!

Fundamentals: Pressure Canning Fundamentals

Does it really matter whether I water bath or pressure can those vegetables?  Will the pressure canner blow up in my kitchen?  How do I know it is safe to eat what I make?   Join us in canning vegetables while learning principles of pressure canning.  We will provide all you need to learn how to pressure can safely and send you home with a jar for your pantry.

Water Bath Canning: Jams

Bring your friends and learn how to make fresh jam.   The farm provides all the ingredients and fresh made bread and samples; you bring your friends.  We will learn to make and preserve jam and enjoy taste testing with refreshments.

Water Bath Canning: Canning Tomatoes

Bring your friends and learn how to can all those tomatoes.   The farm provides all the ingredients; you bring your friends.
Prerequisite: Water Bath Canning Fundamentals

Pressure Canning: Canning Vegetables

Bring your friends and learn how to can vegetables such as green beans and corn.   The farm provides all the ingredients; you bring your friends.

Pressure Canning: Canning Meats

Bring your friends and learn how to can meat.   The farm provides all the ingredients; you bring your friends.

Fermentation: Brewing Kombucha

Why pay $6 a pint for kombucha at the store? Learn how to do it yourself! Learn all about kombucha (a fermented tea beverage) and why fermented foods are so good for you. This class will cover how to make it safely at home. We will make a bottle that you will carbonate and can try within days, and you will get to take home a kit with everything you need to start making kombucha for yourself!

Includes a 1 quart glass jar, starter tea, & scoby. Everything you need to know to brew kombucha from home.

Fermentation: Making Sauerkraut

Discover how to turn the simple humble cabbage into a probiotic rich and bursting with goodness sauerkraut for you and all the family.  Come and lean how to make sauerkraut at home.

Includes a 1 clear glass crock and cabbage ready to be fermented at home.

Cost: $75
